Afton Village Holiday!

The charming St. Croix river town of Afton, MN, will be transformed into a winter wonderland for Afton Village Holiday Dec. 5 and 6, 2014. This annual, old-fashion event is presented by the Afton Area Business Association.
Friday, Dec. 5 is billed as Candlelight Light. Starting at 5 p.m., the village will “light up” with holiday lights and torches. This romantic evening also includes festive shopping with special discounts and refreshments, free wine tasting, live music, food/drink specials, bonfires with complimentary warm beverages and more. Event programming lasts until 9 pm.
Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 am to 4 pm is FAMILY DAY. Events include breakfast and photos with Santa at the Historic Afton House Inn, a popular kids “Stuff the Stocking” promotion, cookie decorating, Letters to Santa, old-fashioned crafts, lunch with Santa, holiday photos, face painting and more.
Both days also include free horse and wagon rides, strolling carolers, festivities at the Afton Museum, and a holiday gift boutique featuring local artisans.
Guests are encouraged to visit the “Love Your Melon” station in the historic Afton House Inn. Love Your Melon, founded by local residents Zachary Quinn and Brian Keller, donates a hat to a child battling cancer for every hat purchased. Guests are also asked to please bring donations of warm hats and mittens for the 5th annual Afton/Lakeland Girl Scouts Mitten Tree, plus nonperishable food items, to benefit Valley Outreach.
